Nenagh Vocational School , previously announced, will be allowed to go to tender and construction for the extension and refurbishment of their school. Borrisokane Vocational School previously announced, Ursuline Convent Secondary School in Thurles and Scoil Mhuire Presentation Secondary School Ballingarry, Thurles, will be able to prepare tender documents for their extensions and refurbishments. The Sacred Heart Primary School in Newline, Roscrea have been authorised to appoint a design team in quarter three 2010.
Speaking about these announcements, Deputy Hoctor said, "I'm pleased for the schools involved that they have received this news and that progress is being made with the extensions and refurbishments of their school buildings. Having school facilities of a high quality is so important if we want to ensure our students enjoy a strong standard of education."
"I know there will also be disappointment for some schools who have missed out this year but I would encourage any disappointed schools to make contact with my office and I will work with them to help secure better news in the future."
"Having five North Tipperary schools included in the programme is a positive step and I'm delighted that even in these difficult economic times funding is still being found for improving our school facilities," Deputy Hoctor concluded.
